Everyone I am on vacation right now so am not responded to emails but saw this to say Paul is 100% WRONG.  I have removed him from this email as he is no longer a Merchant owner.

We are covered by Prop 13 and there was an error in billing by City.  You do not need to pay anybody anything to get this fixed at this point.  If this turns out to not be true I will update everyone.  I will be confirming the fix the week of Aug. 22.

I will follow up once I get back from vacation.

Raja-Please call Peter Fatooh at 415-447-8800-he is an expert at this! I'm sorry but we're not covered under prop 13 nor is city going to been over backwards to adjust your property tax lower-you should be able to adjust about $100,000 per assessment based on my sale at $780,000 vs their assessment of mine up to $894,000!! -This will be adjusted. Every year btw -good luck-Paul

As I stated earlier below-you are not covered under prop 13 but city must have just re-accessed all units in merchant off a price per square foot sale from new buildings nearby-They went purposely high and now you will need to pay new high priced bill and also then fight to get it lowered and get refund!!please scale down on email tread  and read earlier remarks-this will happen every year btw!! good luck-Paul

Thank you Paul for the heads up as many of us have also gotten error tax bills.  In my opinion NOBODY should fill an official appeal just yet.  Here is why, thanks to the fact some of our neighbors at Olympia I got the number of somebody at the Assessor Recorders officer.  The person Olympia suggested talking with is aware of the issue but is not the correct person to contact right now. Having said that he did state he is working with his boss to see if it can be corrected without an official appeal. If it can be correct without an official appeal It will take a few working days to correct so he said he would be back in touch once they have an answer of some sort. Since we don't need to have official appeals in until Sept we have some time. As I hear more I will keep you all in the loop.

Hi All-I hate to be a bearer of bad news but I just received a adjusted tax bill! I'm a realtor and didn't know this but we are not covered under prop 13! My tax assessment went from $560,000 to 894,000 even though I just sold for $780,000!!! That's about $4000 more in taxes!! I advise you all to get together and hire a former associate Peter Fatooh and protest these high assessments -Peter number is 415-447-8800--good luck and call me if you have any questions-Paul 415-367-5664
