Shipyard Condo HOA Board Election

Hello fellow Shipyard Condo owners; 

 

By now many of you have already gotten your Condo HOA ballots in the last few days.  For those that have not wait a few days to see if you get and if you don't report to Associa to make sure you get yours. 

Those of you that were around a couple years ago may remember that Lennar was able to focus there the votes they get in the Condo HOA Board to get the candidates they wanted.  This happened in part due to lower homeowner participation in the election.  While the number of votes Lennar gets this time is lower then 2 years ago they still have a good block of votes that can impact who gets a seat on the HOA board.  So please be sure to vote in this election.  If enough of us vote then how Lennar votes will not matter. So once again PLEASE VOTE! 

Now a few folks have already reached out to me to ask about the election.  While I of course would once again ask for your support me in my re-election bid I am also supporting Michele Spicher.  Michele over the past year has been part of the Budget Committee, been a big help in going through all the invoices and, helping get answers to questions that we have had for a long time.  In my opinion she has more then earned a right to be on the Board.   

You get two votes in this election so I hope you will give me, Jason Fried, one vote and Michele the other and of course please get those ballots in.  

Should you have any questions on all of this please let me know and as always if you have moved and should be removed from my list please let me know.

Halloween this year

Hello my fellow Merchant friends,


This year for Halloween or neighborhood is going to set up a little trick or treat fun for the kids who live in the area. Some of us plan to hand out candy in our Courtyard area from 6:30-8ish on Sunday October 31st in coordination with others in the Shipyard so the kids can go trick or treating. We are going to prop the gate open so kids can get in and trick or treat in the Courtyard. We are going to have one of us handing out candy near the elevator/paths to the hallways to make sure all visits stay in the courtyard so we can keep our building safe and secure. While I know most everyone who lived in the building prior to COVID I have not had a chance to meet all our new neighbors in the past couple of years. So please don't be offended if I, or somebody else, asks you when you are going from the courtyard to your unit stops and asks if you live here. Just introduce yourself and let us know which unit you are in. Personally I hope I get a chance to meet all our newish neighbors while handing out candy to the kids. Even if you don't have time to hand out candy I hope you can at-least stop by and meet your neighbors.


So some questions for you.

1. Do you plan to join us in handing out candy?

2. Do you have kids who plan to go trick or treating that night?

3. Do any of you have a printer and willing to print this message out 60 times (perhaps cut this question out) so I can leave it on people doors as well because this list is a little old so I know not everyone is one it and I want to make sure all are aware. (Don't print until you hear from me because I only need one person to do this and hate to have several of you do it.)


Please let me know the answers to the questions above.


As always if you have moved or have new tenants please make sure I know so I can update my list.  Once I get a better list I will send this out as a non BCC list so everyone has the best list I can make just BCC this one since I know it is not very good right now.

Those are HOA emergency numbers. Not sure if HOA is responsible for a regular clog. The unit is vacant so we could wait till someone available.

Hey everyone,

 

I do have a list of most owners and a few renters which is where this email chain originally comes from.  I have been asked by a few folks to not share their information with others and they want to limit what they get emails on so need to respect that request and can't share my full list with the group but as I have said those that are willing to have emails shared get put in the "To" section and BCC those that do not want emails shared.  The HOA can't share contact information for homeowners or renters for privacy reasons so it is important we keep our list as current as possible.  

 

As a side note if you send me emails and I don't respond please come and knock on my door, Unit 411, since it means either I did not see it or it unfortunately got sent to my spam folder so will likely never see it.

 

Since I am already sending this email as an update to Block 1 development OCII did give its approval and told us homeowners we should have been here 20 years ago when everything was being planned.  They had no desire to hear anything we said and clearly had their minds made up before any public comment was said.

For those of you who following the FaceBook group or TownSQ this may not be new but for those not on or looking at the Facebook group or TownSQ these days want to bring to your attention that the development on the other side of Donahue, where the current security trailer is located, is starting to go through the approval process.  If approved as they plan then the new buildings will completely block all views of SF from our roof deck.  We will still see the bridges but nothing of the downtown view we have today.  I and a few other owners have finally gotten the developer to agree to meet with shipyard residents for next week to talk about the proposal.  It is important that as many of you as possible join.  It is set-up for Sept. 17 at 6pm via zoom.  See attached flyer for more details.

 

There is also a google doc that was created to get people thoughts which includes if you agree.  I have already add to this list so please add any of your thoughts and add yourself if you agree in that column

Hey everyone,

 

I do have a list of most owners and a few renters which is where this email chain originally comes from.  I have been asked by a few folks to not share their information with others and they want to limit what they get emails on so need to respect that request and can't share my full list with the group but as I have said those that are willing to have emails shared get put in the "To" section and BCC those that do not want emails shared.  The HOA can't share contact information for homeowners or renters for privacy reasons so it is important we keep our list as current as possible.  

 

As a side note if you send me emails and I don't respond please come and knock on my door, Unit 411, since it means either I did not see it or it unfortunately got sent to my spam folder so will likely never see it.

 

Since I am already sending this email as an update to Block 1 development OCII did give its approval and told us homeowners we should have been here 20 years ago when everything was being planned.  They had no desire to hear anything we said and clearly had their minds made up before any public comment was said.

For those of you who following the FaceBook group or TownSQ this may not be new but for those not on or looking at the Facebook group or TownSQ these days want to bring to your attention that the development on the other side of Donahue, where the current security trailer is located, is starting to go through the approval process.  If approved as they plan then the new buildings will completely block all views of SF from our roof deck.  We will still see the bridges but nothing of the downtown view we have today.  I and a few other owners have finally gotten the developer to agree to meet with shipyard residents for next week to talk about the proposal.  It is important that as many of you as possible join.  It is set-up for Sept. 17 at 6pm via zoom.  See attached flyer for more details.

 

There is also a google doc that was created to get people thoughts which includes if you agree.  I have already add to this list so please add any of your thoughts and add yourself if you agree in that column

Re: Merchant contact list

Hi Everyone,

One unit in 451 Donahue St bathtub has sewer blockage, water could not drain down, instead, flowing back. The unit has not been lived for several months.

Please advise what we need to do to get it resolved.

I tried to call HOA 415-955-2790, it is off hour now.

I would appreciate anyone who had similar experience and how to resolve it in this building.

For those of you who following the FaceBook group or TownSQ this may not be new but for those not on or looking at the Facebook group or TownSQ these days want to bring to your attention that the development on the other side of Donahue, where the current security trailer is located, is starting to go through the approval process.  If approved as they plan then the new buildings will completely block all views of SF from our roof deck.  We will still see the bridges but nothing of the downtown view we have today.  I and a few other owners have finally gotten the developer to agree to meet with shipyard residents for next week to talk about the proposal.  It is important that as many of you as possible join.  It is set-up for Sept. 17 at 6pm via zoom.  See attached flyer for more details.

There is also a google doc that was created to get people thoughts which includes if you agree.  I have already add to this list so please add any of your thoughts and add yourself if you agree in that column

Who the heck is going to do something about our "mail room" robberies. This has not improved over the last 3 years and since the full time security trailer has been removed across the street it's gotten worse. I'd estimate 33% of our packages have been yanked over the last few months. 

We have security cameras. In the mail room. What the hell.
