Re: 1st Group Meeting of Merchant

Hi everyone,

I'll be abroad but will join the meeting  through google hangout if it's gonna be set up.

(There is a gap on my balcony door too - this is in addition to other issues I have listed in a previous email.)

Nothing will change unless everyone participates. With majority if not full votes, we can change things to improve our life here but again everyone needs to be on board.

All the very best,

There is also a fairly large gap under my front door, there is a substantial draft coming in and a lot light a night. I have been paying HO dues since 12/1 and don't feel that they are providing any janitorial or maintenance services. The postman caught me in the hallway the other day and told me they didn't have a key for the P.O. lockbox in the front of the building. Apparently he had a master key for the PO boxes but there is a lockbox that is supposed to have another master key so that other postal workers can access the mailboxes when he is not on duty. I didn't know what to tell him.
I will attend the meeting and although my unit is only 1 BR  can make it available if necessary for the meeting.Need help with seating.

Finally we are starting to get a good list of things from the google groups list, please add more if you have it, so was thinking it may be good to get a group meeting together.  I have create a simple doodle poll, see link (http://doodle.com/poll/e9t2c2zw8usnhazi) that give a bunch of dates for us to meet.  The poll gives 3 chooses, Yes and No but some in the past I have found some get confused by the (Yes) option.  That means you can do if needed but it is not the best of the option so would prefer a different time but will make it work if needed.  I realize we are about to get into the holidays so it may be touch to get a good enough size group together but lets see if we can do this sooner rather then later.  I have three time slots suggested for weekends and then one time slots for weekdays.  Those can be modified if needed and are simply my suggestions.  We need to find a place to meet but thinking depending on time and weather we can use the rooftop deck or perhaps if somebody is willing to open there home to us we can meet there.  We can figure this out if we get enough folks who want to do this.  If you all want I happy to help facility the meeting itself.

More NEW Mail in the Community Room.

It would appear there is more mail in the Community Room.  Not sure why it is there but it would appear a day or two worth of mail is in the room.  So please go check out the room.

Also please don't forget to add your availability to the Doodle poll. (http://doodle.com/poll/e9t2c2zw8usnhazi

RE: MERCHANT SQUAD (updated list)

Thanks for letting us know about the security issue.  I had not heard about none residents being in the building and while it would be great for all of us to meet this is a problem in my opinion that should be addressed ASAP and should not wait for us to meet and discuss in person.  If you are interested in being part of letter(email) on this please let me know and I can help coordinate it but will need help in the physical drafting since I am not personally the strongest writer but happy to work with anybody who wants to do a group letter about lack of security.  It is time that they see we are not willing to simply sit around any more and they need to start dealing with in an honest upfront manner.  It seems like they are willing to not deal with issues on a one on one basis so perhaps a group letter will be something they can't ignore.  I am personally should be around every night this week so if you are here in the building let me know and perhaps we can sit down one night to do the draft.

Also please be sure to check the google doc since a few new folks have been added to make sure we have all the folks on the list, I added new emails to this email.

Finally I still do want to try and get a group meeting to talk about the growing list of issue we are haivng but realizing that will be hard with the holiday so I updated the doodle poll to add a few more days on the far side.  For the few folks who already filled out the poll please go back and check the new dates to let us know what will work.  http://doodle.com/poll/e9t2c2zw8usnhaziqh7evkrc/admin#table

To add on Jay's points re:Condo fees,  the building is still under construction and have not been handed over from the contractors (Lennar has their visitors wear hard hats walking in our courtyard!). With all these issues including security, garbage, mail, cleaning, no privacy, construction noise etc, we certainly should not be paying anything until all gets resolved. One more thing: I'd also be against it if they want us to pay PG&E retroactively: I have not read or signed anything about this. The reason we don't have individual PG&E accounts is because, again, the building is not being handed over from construction.

Hi neighbors,

These are very disturbing anecdotes. Thanks for sharing the stories--it's good to be informed. (I'll start carrying mace now.) Has anyone been reporting this to the property management, Lennar, Shipyard, or the police?

Perhaps we can add a sheet to the Google doc to catalogue these incidents. That way, we have some data and specific examples, to build a case for installing cameras, activating exterior locks, hiring a difference security co, etc.

Thanks,

Hi Everyone, a few nights ago I came across a homeless woman in the elevator. She told me not to say anything to anyone. Then she started to walk towards me saying I should shut the f$!ck up - several times. That got me scared and I walked around her as fast as I can to get outside the building to find the security who was super reluctant to get out of his car and move. Very frustrating. At 10:45pm tonight, we discovered a man passed out in the corridor in front of the door to the bike storage.  There was a strong smell of alcohol and urine.  Of course, security wasn't aware of the situation. Another security team arrived at 10:55pm to get the man out of the building.  We recently received the email that the security gate and key fobs will start working on January 4th, however,  we need the system working now.  This is the third person in the building in 2 months!

Hello Merchant Neighbors!

It was wonderful meeting many of you yesterday at the Storehouse gathering. As I, or Jason, or someone else, discussed with you, we wanted to get a group email together. You should have also received access to a corresponding Shared Spreadsheet with three tabs:
  • Sharing: Share issues, requests and other things we've noticed during the move in and/or living process at our lovely Merchant building. I think we've all had our fair share of frustrations with the whole process, and there are still some ongoing frustrations, but the focus here is to come together as a group with one voice to go to Lennar with. This tab should be self explanatory, but is set up so we can start to categorize our issues that we will plan to go to Lennar with.
  • Gatherings: Potentially set up gatherings so we can better get to know each other. A few options I heard last night was Rooftop Thursday Wine Downs & Workout bootcamps with Professor G.
  • Contacts: This is our running list of people. It would be great if we get everyone in the building on this, so as you meet neighbors and get their emails, please share this with them and add their emails. Some of the emails didn't work because I couldn't make out the writing (Ramiro Castro #305, and Sasha & Katrina in #508) so if a neighbor didn't get this, please add their emails!
I have enabled the spreadsheet so everyone can edit it, so please add Sharings, Gatherings and definitely add new neighbors to the Contacts list. I'll make sure to recheck before future emails so newbies are added.

Thanks All! Really excited to be in this new home with everyone!
Greg

**One thing I want to be very clear about: this email list and corresponding spreadsheet are about sharing useful things with the entire group (or at least a subset of the group). If you have a complaint with a specific neighbor, put on your big girl or boy pants and take it up with them directly. This is not the venue for that. Thanks!

Re: MERCHANT SQUAD

To add on Jay's points re:Condo fees,  the building is still under construction and have not been handed over from the contractors (Lennar has their visitors wear hard hats walking in our courtyard!). With all these issues including security, garbage, mail, cleaning, no privacy, construction noise etc, we certainly should not be paying anything until all gets resolved. One more thing: I'd also be against it if they want us to pay PG&E retroactively: I have not read or signed anything about this. The reason we don't have individual PG&E accounts is because, again, the building is not being handed over from construction.

Best,
